I realize it’s not even thanksgiving yet, but retailers are already rolling out their holiday party collections and I wanted to share the modest options with you before they sell out! I shared my picks a few weeks before NYE last year and most everything was out of stock so I wanted to share early this time! I ordered everything to share in a video soon too so stay tuned! It is so difficult to find modest (or pieces you can easily make modest), affordable and elegant pieces for holiday parties and NYE so I did all the hard work for you! Happy shopping! 🙂

  • Where do you think the biggest gap in the market is based on the positioning matrix?

The biggest gap is in low quality, high price, which makes sense. Having been around wealthy people, they will pay high prices for low quality if it’s labeled as luxury, so this could be added to the market. There is a huge range of prices and quality from $10-$45. The $10 options are usually self-serve for those on a budget and then the luxury options from 20$ and above.

  • What other insights did you gain from the matrix results to help QuickQuack reach more potential customers?

It’s obvious that these smaller car washes do not have much marketing, while the larger ones have positioned themselves well in the market. What I learned from this exercise is that there is money to be had in any industry. There is a wide range of quality, price, and services. It’s obvious that those who charge more have larger marketing budgets, nicer equipment, and better websites. That being said,
I imagine the car wash by the gas station doesn’t market as much since the gas station does the marketing for them.

Step 1- Watch the case study in chapter 13 of the Modern Marketing Principles Textbook After Paradigm Shift Part 2 case study

Step 2 – Review the Buyer Personas

Gabby is a college student and Gabe is also a college student.

Step 3 – Open a Google Doc and copy the questions below and answer them in detail for each of the 2 Buyer Persona.

  1. What platforms and what time might the persona be on social media to market to them?

Gabby is on instagram and snapchat, with rare facebook usage, Gabe is on instagram and rarely facebook

  1. Where and when might they be online?

Gabby cares about causes, I bet she posts frequently about these causes. I am guessing she is easier to market to.

Gabe is overwhelmed with school and likely does not use social media much at all, sporting events with friends might land on the gram.

3. When is a bad time to market using social media?

To market to the wrong people on the wrong platform. This internship is targeted to college students over summer, so it should be marketed to students on instagram primarily.

4. What specific interests might our persona have and how can we use that in ad targeting options?

Gabby likes cause related merchandise, Big Sister volunteering, socializing with friends, etc.

Gabe is a fan of energy drinks, friends, college sports, student union and travel.

5. Would you use Facebook ads to target the buyer persona? Why?

I would not. Neither of them use facebook very much.

6. Would you use Instagram ads to target the buyer persona? Why?

Absolutely, they both use instagram the most.

7. Would you use LinkedIn ads to target the buyer persona? Why?

I would, they are building their career and resume. Linked In would be effective to market on.

8. Would you use YouTube ads to target the buyer persona? Why?

Yes. Gabby loves causes and probably watches youtube to learn about those causes. Youtube is the one social media that college students in my life use, even if they got rid of all the other social media. I’m guessing Gabe watches sports highlights on youtube. Both can be marketed to there.
