  • Modest Dresses
  • Modest jeans, tops, and footwear

Modesty is defined differently based on religious beliefs, body confidence, culture, weather, and other qualities. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I personally have been to the temple and choose to dress modestly. This means, where possible, I wear shorts and skirts that hit just above the knee and tops that have sleeves and are not cropped or low cut. Understandably there are a lot of guidelines to what I can wear. I don’t see it that way. These standards and commitments are between myself and God, they show God that I love and value him.

Ski suits and cozy outfits are ideal for wintertime.

Ski Suits: When it comes to outdoor activities like skiing or snowboarding, modest ski suits that are both functional and stylish are key. Look for options with long sleeves, full-coverage necklines, and a modest fit. Brands like Spyder and Columbia have ski suits that can fit modest needs, with tailored cuts that flatter without revealing too much.

Layering for Winter: You could suggest layering options like modest turtlenecks or long-sleeve thermal shirts underneath sweaters or jackets for an extra layer of warmth and coverage. Long skirts with leggings underneath or maxi skirts are also a popular choice for those who prefer to stay modest in the winter.

Accessories: Modest scarves, hats, and gloves that still match the outfit could help complete the look without compromising style.

Modest Shorts: For summer activities or trips to the park, modest shorts (knee-length or slightly above) are a great option. Brands like DownEast offer stylish but modest options that balance comfort and style. Look for materials like linen or cotton for breathability.

Swimwear: Swimwear for modesty doesn’t have to be boring. Companies like ModLi, Shabby Apple, and Modest Swimwear offer full-coverage swimsuits with stylish designs. You can also find swim skirts with tops that provide coverage but still look trendy. Pairing with a cover-up, like a long, flowy tunic, is also a great way to keep things modest but still cute.

Dresses: Maxi dresses, A-line dresses, and midi dresses can be perfect for the summer months while still being fashionable. Look for dresses with sleeves (or pair with a light cardigan) and ones that provide coverage but allow you to move comfortably in warmer weather.

Trendy Jeans: High-waisted, straight-leg, and mom jeans are all very in style right now, and they offer good coverage while still looking chic. Opt for wide-leg jeans or bootcut styles if you’re going for more of a trendy, vintage look. Pair with a modest top—maybe something with a high neckline and sleeves, or a button-down shirt that’s not too tight.

Modest Tops: It’s all about finding that balance between fashion and coverage. A cute long-sleeve blouse with some subtle pattern or color can make a huge difference. Denim jackets or cardigans are great layering pieces that offer coverage and polish off the look.

Footwear: Modest shoes can still be trendy! Think ankle boots, flats, or sneakers with platform soles for an on-trend touch.

Church Outfits & Temple Dresses

Church Outfits: For Sundays or church services, you can showcase dresses with a nice silhouette (such as a fit-and-flare or shift style) that are knee-length or just below. Pair it with a cardigan or jacket for a modest, polished look. Don’t forget about accessories—minimalistic jewelry can add a sophisticated touch without drawing too much attention.

Temple Dresses: Temple dresses are sacred clothing, but you can still find stylish ones that meet the modesty requirements. Look for dresses with flowing, comfortable fits and high necklines, as well as long sleeves, typically made from soft fabrics like cotton, silk, or satin. Many companies offer temple dresses in classic, elegant designs while keeping them fully modest.

Cute Dresses for Any Occasion

Cute Modest Dresses: Dresses for various occasions—whether it’s a wedding, dinner date, or family event—can be stylish while maintaining modesty. A knee-length dress with sleeves, paired with some trendy accessories, is an easy go-to for any occasion. The key is picking out dresses that balance modesty with modern aesthetics, like pleated skirts, A-line shapes, or shift styles.

Fabric and Texture: Look for dresses that utilize textured fabrics like lace or tulle for an elegant look, or go for bold prints like florals for a fun, playful vibe.

Shopping & Modest Fashion Brands

Some online shops like DownEast, ModLi, and Cleverly Clothing focus specifically on stylish yet modest clothing. Many mainstream brands like Nordstrom, J.Crew, and H&M also offer modest options that can be incorporated into a modest wardrobe.
